Current data behavior

The Arrival Readiness Plan stores your selected trip profile, completed item IDs and any optional accommodation name, address or phone number in this browser’s local storage. Use “Reset personal plan” on the Start page to replace that saved plan with blank defaults. The correction builder creates a report in your browser from the page, observation date, location, technical context, public source and description you choose to enter. Its email link opens your device’s mail app; the website does not submit the report itself. Chinista has no account system or advertising. The separate Menu Photo Assist Preview described below uses server processing.

Menu Photo Assist Preview

Your original photo is uploaded to Chinista to validate and crop the area you selected. That crop is sent to Google’s Gemini Developer API; readable dish names may be sent to Doclingo for an English translation. Avoid photos of people, identity documents, payment codes or other personal information.

Chinista processes image bytes in memory and does not write the image or crop to its result database. This does not mean our providers offer zero retention: their own processing and retention terms apply. Google’s data use also depends on the account’s paid or unpaid service status. Read the Gemini API terms. Provider retention has not been independently audited by Chinista.

A small structured result—Chinese name, price, currency marker, unit, checked English name when available, and staff card—is recoverable in your original browser tab for up to 24 hours. Your browser holds a random session identifier and a private recovery capability. Anyone with those credentials may access that saved result. Closing the tab or clearing its storage can prevent recovery.

Rate limits use a daily changing hash of the network address supplied by our hosting platform. We do not store the raw address in Photo Assist’s database. Minimal events record steps such as selecting a photo, reaching a result and opening the staff card, with an anonymous session hash; they contain no image, dish text, email or recovery credential. Event retention is 30 days. Standard hosting security and request logs are separate.

Feedback is optional. We store your reaction, chosen reason and message; an email address is optional when you request a reply. A result is attached only if you explicitly choose to include it, and an image is never attached. Feedback and its optional email and result context have a 180-day retention period. Do not include sensitive personal information.

Result access expires independently of physical cleanup. This Preview schedules removal of expired content every 15 minutes; a successful scheduled run has been checked using test records. Service interruptions or a backlog can delay removal. Operational quota and request-deduplication records are retained separately to prevent repeat charges.

Privacy-safe site analytics

Chinista uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate page visits, referral sources, country or region, browser, operating system and device type. Vercel states that this service does not use third-party cookies and uses a visitor hash that resets after 24 hours. On the Arrival Readiness Plan, Chinista records only whether a visitor started a valid plan, built a plan, returned to a saved plan or exported it by copy, text download or print. We do not send the answers in the plan—including nationality, travel dates, city, accommodation, phone, payment setup or checklist choices—to analytics. Email feedback

If you email feedback@chinista.com, Chinista receives the sender address, message and any attachment you choose to send. Email providers process and store that message. We use it to review or correct guidance and to reply when useful; we do not add senders to a mailing list. Do not send passport numbers, payment details, login credentials, booking codes or other sensitive personal information.
