Chinista helps independent international visitors complete practical travel tasks with less uncertainty, while sharing more of the culture, landscapes and everyday experiences that brought us to the project in the first place.
Why we started
Closing an information gap
China has a long history, many distinct regional cultures and more everyday stories than most visitors can find before they arrive. Much of that information never travels easily across language and information boundaries.
We started Chinista to make part of that distance smaller. We want to share more of the China we see, and to help first-time visitors avoid preventable problems with payments, identity, transport, accommodation and connectivity. A language barrier should not be the reason a good trip becomes a frustrating one.
People behind the project
Three travelers, one practical goal.
We are not a large travel company or a group of people claiming to have tested every route in China. We are three ordinary travelers who want to share what we find useful and keep improving it through real feedback.

Yan
Yan handles day-to-day development and organizes Chinista's editorial and visual materials. He previously spent time at the Shaolin Temple learning martial arts performance.

Jack L
Jack is a photography enthusiast who captures material for the project and helps build an original visual record of the places and moments the team encounters.
We use first names or initials and stylized images so the people behind the work are visible without publishing more personal information than the project needs.
How we work
From what we see to what a traveler can use
The site is independent and English-first. We begin with questions that repeatedly stop or confuse travelers, then check consequence-sensitive advice against named official sources. Each guide separates what a source establishes, what has been tested and what still needs rechecking.
Reader feedback is part of the process. When something is unclear, outdated or simply wrong, we want to know—and we record corrections instead of quietly pretending the first version was final.

One visible standard across the guides
Guides use the Chinista Editorial Team byline. Introducing the people behind the project does not mean one named person has personally tested every route, device or provider; the organizational byline keeps that evidence boundary visible.
